While the quarantine has put some restrictions, it has also opened up some blessings – the time flexibility, for instance, to make an elaborate, almost ceremonial tea for mt myself every morning! The recipe is very simple but it certainly is a soul soother amidst all the home schooling.
I have made a complete materials list (with some affiliate links) for you.
Start with a light sketch of the ingredients using the Castell 9000 pencil 2B on watercolor paper. Nothing needs to be an exact copy of the actual object. It’s more fun to draw them in your own style.
Start coloring the elements with the Goldfaber Aqua Watercolor Pencils.
Blend the colors with a deluxe water brush.
TIP: This water brush is particularly helpful because there’s no spill risk when you are sharing table space with others as I am right now.
Dip your waterbrush in the Connector Paint of your choice and brush letter your recipe title.
Once the colors are all dry, write the ingredient list and the recipe itself with a Goldfaber Color pencil to finish.
I hope you enjoyed today’s tutorial as much as I enjoyed creating it. Stay well and stay creative!
Toward the end of 2018, I was interviewed by Karen Poirier-Brode for A Creative Approach Podcast. We talked about life and how it led me to where I am at in my artistic journey. Here’s the link to the page where she highlighted what stood out to her in our conversation –

Another Holiday season almost wrapped up, a new year ahead of us – maybe like me, you too need to unwind and balance your to-do list with your own needs at this point. A large part of my own self-care is to spend some quality time with myself, creating. It helps me recharge and repeat my family’s hectic schedule each day.
At first, I used to feel guilty and selfish, but over time I have realized that making time for art has improved the quality of my life, relationships and general sense of wellbeing to a great extent. I wish to continue to make time for myself and my art in 2019 and I encourage that you do the same. You deserve it!
And if you wish to give yourself this gift of creativity and are wondering about where to start, you might benefit from the structure and inspiration of a year-long, self-paced art course and its supportive community. I hope you will join me on one or both of these art-ventures – Life Book and Wanderlust!
Both of these courses have early bird discounts that expire on 31 December. So, sign up now and start 2019 with a creative boost!
Did you know that I wanted to make this mixed media shadowbox last Christmas. But this Katelyn Lizardi Sizzix die set was in such high demand that I couldn’t get it in my hands until September this year! The beauty is that this die-set let’s you make two different shadowbox designs which you can then collapse and flatten and send as a card in an A9 envelope. It will pop right back up to become a shadowbox when you take it out of the envelope.
Katelyn has a video that explains how-to if you need any guidance. Something like this would look pretty with holiday-themed patterned papers, plain cardstock as well as in a more mixed media style as I prefer.
The shadow box is about 1.5 inches deep which means you can add several layers inside with elements that are also included in the die-set. I had oodles of fun with this and it took me a couple of hours to complete mainly because I had to wait for the paints to dry.
Welcome to the 5th and final day of my Blog Series – Christmas Inspiration! And today’s project is a little light vignette. Of all the projects I posted this week, this one is my FAVORITE! So, I saved it for the last day and also made a video on i-movie to show you how fun this is. Play the video to see for yourself!
I’m listing the supplies I used. Feel free to choose from your stash. I want to give you some starting points and not directions, so you can explore freely. If you do create some projects along with me, please use the hashtag #mousaha and tag me on Instagram @mou.saha.studio and on Facebook @MouSahaStudio.
CAUTION: Do not use real open flame candles with these paper tree light to avoid fire hazards! I used flameless smokeless LED Tea Light Candles for safety and still would keep an eye on the display when it’s turned on.
Welcome to my Blog Series – Christmas Inspiration: Day 4!
